Arizona Snowbowl is located outside of Flagstaff, AZ, just 49 miles away from Williams. With some of the largest beginner terrain in the West and innovative class learning styles, Snowbowl is the perfect place for beginners to learn to ski or snowboard. For more experienced sportsmen, Snowbowl also features a multitude of more difficult and expert, double black diamond, slopes. If you’d rather relax by a warm fire, their ski lodge does not disappoint.
In addition, the company who owns and runs Arizona Snowbowl recently bought the Elk Ridge Ski Area in Williams. They are currently (as of Summer 2019) renovating the area with new ski lifts and facilities. Check out their website to see if an open date is determined.
CROSS COUNTRY SKIING
If you’re a fan of cross-country skiing, or would like to give it a try, check out the Arizona Nordic Village. The village is located just under an hour away from the Firelight and includes 19 different cross-country trails. If you don’t know how to cross-country ski, but would like to learn, a standard lesson includes a trail pass, an equipment rental package including skis, books, and poles, and a 90-minute lesson. Reserve your lesson here. Arizona Nordic Village also offers snowshoe rentals to walk their trails.
For some sledding fun, check out the Oak Hill Snow Play Area or the Benham Snow Play Area. Both are located within a 15-minute drive of the Firelight. We do not provide sleds, but you can find the traditional disc sled for inexpensive prices in Williams or Flagstaff. An alternative is to bring an inflatable pool tube! They work perfectly for sledding and are compact enough to pack away in your suitcase.
